Nueraminidase Molecule

Molecule: Nueraminidase

PDB ID Number: 1NN2

Authors: Varghese, J.N., Coleman, P.M.

Type: Protien

Number of Chains: A

Function: To help viruses be released from the host cell

Biological Relevance: Influenza A Virus

Diseases: Influenza A

CPK Model:

Ball and Stick Model:

Ribbon Model:

Contact Surface Model:

Biological Unit Model:

  1. The purpose of the CPK model is to show the molecule with just atoms and no bonding between them.
  2. The purpose of the Ball and Stick model is to display the molecule with atoms and bonds like molecules are usually expressed.
  3. The ribbon model shows the backbone of each part of the molecule to show the general shape of it.
  4. A contact surface model can easily show the shape of a molecule without all the confusing single atoms and bonds.
  5. The purpose of the biological unit model is to express how that molecule is in real life.

     hydrogen (H) white
     carbon (C) black
     nitrogen (N) dark blue
     oxygen (O) red
     fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl) green
     bromine (Br) dark red
     iodine (I) dark violet
noble gases (He, Ne, Ar, Xe, Kr) cyan
     phosphorus (P) orange
     sulfur (S) yellow
boron (B), most transition metals peach, salmon
alkali metals (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr) violet
alkaline earth metals (Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra) dark green
     titanium (Ti) gray
     iron (Fe) orange
     other elements pink

A biological unit what that protein actually looks like in real life.

A capsid is the protein coat or shell of a virus particle, it surrounds the nucleic acid or nucleoprotein core.

Ambient Occlusion helps you to visualize that molecule in more appealing colors to your eyes.

Maya has the advantage of  being so open-ended that you can make anything with it. So that puts it higher than most other programs already.
